Planning Your Visit

If You Are a Patient Being Admitted for Medical (Non-Surgical) Treatment

If your admission has been scheduled in advance, your physician will inform you of the date and time to arrive at the hospital. Upon entering LMC, please proceed to the Admissions Office on the ground floor, where our team will help you complete your room or bed reservation and confirm your class of admission according to your financial coverage.

Depending on your insurer or public guarantor, the Admissions Office may need to obtain approval before you are admitted. An admitting coordinator will review your insurance benefits, confirm eligibility, and inform you if any payment or deposit is required at the time of admission. Any deposit paid will be automatically deducted from your final bill upon discharge.

For your comfort, please bring essential personal items such as:

  • Sleepwear and undergarments

  • Towel and toiletries

  • Hairbrush and shaving items

You will also need the following documents:

  • Your LMC health card (if issued during a previous visit)

  • A valid personal identification card (National Identity Card or Passport)

  • A completed and signed admission form from your physician

  • Your health insurance card or formal approval from your insurer (if applicable)

We strongly advise against bringing valuables such as jewelry or excess cash. LMC is not responsible for lost or stolen personal belongings.

If You Are a Patient Being Admitted for Surgery

If your physician recommends surgery, you will be referred to an LMC Pre-Admission Coordinator, who will guide you through the entire process. This includes obtaining insurance approvals, securing financial clearance, and ensuring all necessary surgical materials are prepared in advance.

You will be scheduled for a pre-op clinic appointment at least one day before your admission. This visit typically lasts 3–4 hours and includes:

  • Required medical examinations

  • Consultations with your anesthesiologist and cardiologist

  • Review of laboratory or diagnostic tests

  • Assessment of your medical history

  • Instructions on medications and pre-surgery preparation

Pre-op appointments take place Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Please arrive 30 minutes early to complete registration at the Admissions Office (ground floor lobby).

During the pre-op assessment, our care team will create a personalized plan to support a safe and smooth procedure. If you have questions or concerns—particularly about anesthesia—please discuss them with your anesthesiologist during this visit.

For Emergency Cases

LMC’s Emergency Department provides 24/7 medical services, staffed by experienced ER physicians and nurses. Upon arrival, you will be assessed in the triage area, where a nurse will perform a brief evaluation to determine the urgency of your condition. This triage process ensures that patients with the most critical needs are treated first.

While we strive to minimize wait times, there may be instances when urgent cases must be prioritized. The expected waiting time in the Emergency Department is typically 2–3 hours, depending on patient volume and case severity.

If you require admission from the ER, a family member will be asked to complete the admission procedures at the Admissions Office. For your safety, a secure safety box is available on every floor for storing personal valuables.

If at any time you feel that the care you received in the ER did not meet your expectations, we encourage you to reach out to our Quality Department through our contact page. Your feedback helps us continuously improve our services and patient experience.

Discharge Policies and Procedures

Upon Discharge

Your physician will typically inform you of your discharge date one day in advance. Before leaving, you will receive clear instructions about:

  • Home care precautions

  • Medications and treatment

  • Follow-up visits or additional care needs

Once your physician confirms you are ready for discharge, your medical file is closed and sent to the Billing Office. After the bill is prepared, a family member or representative may settle the account at the Cashier’s Office. LMC accepts:

  • Cash

  • Credit/debit cards

  • Bank certified checks

Because each bill is carefully reviewed for accuracy, the discharge process may take some time. To avoid delays, patients are encouraged to check with the Billing Office in advance.

Patients should check out before 12:00 p.m. to help accommodate incoming admissions. For questions, the Floor Secretary on your unit is available to assist you.

Transportation

Your physician will determine whether you should leave by ambulance or private vehicle. If ambulance transport is required, the Floor Secretary will arrange it through the Lebanese Red Cross or Civil Defense.

Requesting Your Medical Records

You have the right to request a copy of your medical records. If needed, please inform your physician on or before your discharge day so that written authorization can be arranged. For further information about medical records requests, please contact us.
