About Labib Medical Center
Labib Medical Center (LMC) has a longstanding history of over 70 years in delivering exceptional healthcare services to patients throughout Lebanon and the Middle East. Established in 1947 by the late Dr. Labib Kamel Abouzahr, LMC began as Al Ahli Hospital — a modest facility in Saida, Lebanon, featuring a single operating room, several patient rooms, and a basic radiology suite. Dr. Abouzahr’s commitment to excellence laid the foundation for a healthcare institution dedicated to advancing medical practice and patient care in southern Lebanon.
Driven by a vision to establish a center of excellence, LMC continually expanded its services throughout the 1950s and 1960s. It introduced specialized treatments that were rare outside Beirut at the time, reflecting its commitment to innovation in both medicine and patient hospitality.

To meet the demands of a growing population and an increasingly diverse patient demographic, Al Ahli Hospital relocated to a larger, more advanced facility in 1974, at which time it was renamed Labib Medical Center under the leadership of Dr. Abouzahr. Over the following decades, LMC underwent substantial expansion in capacity, services, and quality of care. The hospital’s bed capacity increased from 52 to 137, while its clinical services broadened to include specialties such as Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Oncology, Pediatrics, Neurosurgery, Endoscopic Spine Surgery, and Endovascular Coiling for Brain Aneurysms, among others. Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, continuous investments in infrastructure and clinical capabilities enhanced LMC’s ability to meet evolving healthcare needs. A strong focus on quality management culminated in LMC receiving ISO-9001 certification in 2007, reflecting its commitment to excellence across all operational and patient care domains. Today, Labib Medical Center remains dedicated to delivering advanced medical services combined with compassionate patient-centered care, prioritizing the well-being of both patients and their families.
